Nia dancers at the Dance SpaceNia is a sensory-based movement practice that leads to health, wellness, and fitness. It empowers people of all shapes and sizes by connecting the body, mind, spirit, and emotions. Done barefoot to soul-stirring music, no experience is required. You’ll find people enjoying Nia classes in more than 45 countries across the globe.

A certified black belt Nia instructor and certified Nia Five Stages of Self-Healing instructor, Susan Tate completed all of her trainings with Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas, co-creators of The Nia Technique. Susan Tate discovered Nia in 1997 while she was the Director of Health Promotion and assistant professor in the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia and has been teaching since 1999. Susan teaches weekly classes at The Dance Space in Seattle and offers workshops internationally. She also works under the guidance of Dr. Christiane Northrup in partnership with Team Northrup and USANA Health Sciences. She has two grown children and delights in being a dancing grandmother!
