January/February 2008
Vol. 3 No. 1
WELCOME
If you are someone who enjoys the rejuvenation of starting over as the New Year begins, you will enjoy the "Tate's 12 Tips for Manifesting Your 2008 Intentions" article below. I trust it will support your goal and intention setting.
Thank you for the kind praise many of you have shared after reading my latest book, Wellness Wisdom: 31 Ways to Nourish Your Mind, Body & Spirit. I wrote it to support readers in expanding and transforming their level of wellness. I have a request. If you have read the book, would you please consider posting a short review at www.amazon.com and www.barnesandnoble.com? Please e-mail me after it's posted so I can be sure to thank you!
I've added a wonderful assessment tool, the Holistic Lifestyle Questionnaire, to my Body & Soul-Based Nourishment practice. See the Nourishment Coaching section below to learn more and to take advantage of the January/February special sessions I am offering on the phone or at my Greenlake office in Seattle. If you would like guidance and support in setting health-related intentions that involve food, fitness or stress-reduction, please consider the services I provide that are described on my website: www.wawellness.com/nourishment.htm.
If your business, place of worship or corporation is looking for a speaker who is committed to helping people change how they think about their potential for wellness and prosperity, please pass along my name. Thank you!
Please note that the Well Being Newsletter will be published on a bi-monthly basis this year.

TATE'S 12 TIPS FOR MANIFESTING
YOUR 2008 INTENTIONS
What I desire which is aligned with Spirit is on its way.
~ Wayne Dyer, PhD
Over the years, I have discovered that setting intentions at New Year's is more effective than stating resolutions. A resolution is a firm decision to do or not to do something. You can have a resolution and decide not to do anything about it! An intention has a different slant to it--it is like a laser-beamed arrow on its way to the target. If you combine your thoughts, feelings and take the actions steps necessary, your intention is likely to unfold. The following tips are aimed to support turning your intentions into reality.
1. Commit to doing everything in your power to make your intentions manifest--first thing, not last.
2. Spend time noticing the "feeling" you want to receive from manifesting your intention and recall the times when that feeling was present in your life. Imagine, daydream, embellish!
3. Know that your time to do this is self-FULL not selfish. Put value on your needs. Being filled up helps you and others too. Consider how the results of your intention might serve others.
4. Eliminate sabotage (of self and others). Remove yourself from non-supportive people (within reason--you may need to "block" the energy if you're physically with someone who doesn't support your desires.) Know that there is no reason to "reform" anyone around you. YOU are the place where change occurs.
5. You don't need other people's approval to manifest your intentions. Permission can only come from within.
6. Make room for new things to come into your life: donate, recycle, clean out and share.
7. Consider that there is plenty for everyone, including you. Desiring something doesn't take away from anyone else. It helps you to share and give back. Expand your generous spirit!
8. Consider tithing to the person, place or institution (synagogue, mosque, church, temple or park) where you are spiritually fed.
9. Remember, what you focus on expands!
10. Decide when you are ready to do forgiveness work. Grudges and resentments block the flow of abundance in your life. It has been said that "un-forgiveness" is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. Read the "Cultivate Forgiveness" chapter in my Wellness Wisdom book for more guidance and support in this area.
11. Decrease your credit card debt. There is often a correlation between un-forgiveness and your amount of debt.
12. Refrain from complaining and dwell in gratitude. The universe gives you back what you order! Be thankful.

In collaboration with the National Wellness Institute, I now have available the HLQ - Holistic Lifestyle Questionnaire. It is a 50-question assessment encompassing the full spectrum of wellness. It is based on the six-dimensional model of wellness (social, occupational, spiritual, physical, intellectual and emotional) and emphasizes the importance of creating balance in one's life. I am offering special discounted sessions in January and February to introduce clients to this assessment to support their wellness journey and intention-setting for 2008. Save $33 by scheduling your HLQ appointment before February 29, 2008. Cost: $50 for 50 minutes--includes HLQ assessment and results. Please call me for an appointment (425) 238-2885 to take advantage of this offer. Telephone and in-person appointments are available.
VISA and Master Cards accepted.

LOSE THE CRAVINGS
If you crave carbohydrates or sugar, you are not alone. When we consume high-glycemic foods, it causes an over stimulation of the release of insulin. The more we eat, the more we crave. Medical studies show that over 85% of the carbohydrates we consume in the Western world are foods that have a high-glycemic value. If you love bagels, breads, crackers, pasta, potatoes, rice and sugar--did I say, you are not alone? Fortunately, there is a way to reset the body at a cellular level to break the cycle.
I eat a good variety of wholesome foods, but for the last five years I have over-used chocolate to sooth my soul. My chocolate habit was clearly associated with the sweetness missing after experiencing a very painful divorce. I still LOVE chocolate, but I no longer need to eat it daily or in the amounts I was consuming. I finally realized that as high as my blood sugar spiked, it fell to a matching low and it did not fit in with my overall level of health and fitness. I was eating well, doing Nia several times week, enjoying a great spiritual practice and was still chasing down many meals with my favorite chocolate! It also kept me feeling constantly hungry.
Last April, I discovered a program that has successfully reduced my craving for high-glycemic foods. This clinically tested 5-day behavior modification program, recommended by Christiane Northrup, MD, has totally reset my metabolism. It's been four months now and I am sustaining its benefits. It is also proving to be successful in jumpstarting healthier eating habits in my clients. Please email me at susan@wawellness.com if you would like to know more.
