Lose the Cravings

A personal note from Susan:

If you crave carbohydrates or sugar, you are not alone. Carbs are not bad; in fact our bodies need carbohydrates like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans. It’s the easily digestible carbs like white bread, white rice, sugars, sodas and highly-processed foods that cause cravings and can result in weight gain, heart disease and diabetes.

When we consume high-glycemic foods, it causes an over stimulation of the release of insulin. Because of how insulin works in our body, the more we eat, the more we crave. Have you noticed? Medical studies show that over 85% of the carbohydrates we consume in the Western world are foods that have a high-glycemic value. An hour after you eat, you feel hungry again because your blood sugar has dropped. So you reach for another cookie or bagel and your blood sugar spikes again. You feel great for a while until your blood sugar drops once again. So then you eat, not because of a lack of will power, but because every cell in your body is screaming for food. Fortunately, there is a way to stop this roller coaster and reset the body at a cellular level to break the cycle.

I eat a good variety of wholesome foods, but for there were several years when I over-used chocolate to sooth my soul. My chocolate habit was clearly associated with the sweetness missing after experiencing a very painful divorce. I still LOVE chocolate, but I no longer need to eat it daily or in the amounts I was consuming. I finally realized that as high as my blood sugar spiked, it fell to a matching low, complete with bouts of uncharacteristic irritability. This habit did not fit in with my overall level of health and fitness! I was eating well, teaching Nia several times week, enjoying a great spiritual practice and was still chasing down many meals with my favorite chocolate! It also kept me feeling constantly hungry.

In April of 2007, I discovered a program that has successfully reduced my craving for high-glycemic foods. This clinically tested 5-day behavior modification program includes products recommended by Christiane Northrup, M.D. It has totally reset my metabolism. I am no longer on the sugar roller coaster. I am still sustaining its benefits. It is also proving to be successful in jumpstarting healthier eating habits in many of my clients. It is not a magical quick fix, but it is a proven program that supports you in losing your cravings, losing weight and gaining a new perspective on healthier choices for your body.

I love sharing this nutritionally balanced program with others and provide free coaching during the 5-day program. Are you ready to lose the cravings for bagels, breads, crackers, pasta, potatoes, rice and sugar? Send me an email or call to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation.
