Beyond the Election—My American (and World) Prayer

There have been many times in these past months I needed to remind myself to be PRO a candidate rather than AGAINST someone. This historic election will come and go but the days that follow will determine the quality, health and well-being of many lives. So, I decided to share this prayer with you.
Dear God (or insert what you call the Divine),
May we elect and support leaders who are skilled in finding common ground in the midst of conflict.
Bless our country with leaders that respect women, men and children across the globe.
At this time of profound global challenges, please prepare our leaders to make their choices based on love and not fear.
Help us to have a country that honors diversity.Remind us that peace begins with each individual.
Please show us how to work together to create a world community where no one goes hungry.
Help us to nurture the children of the world and provide a sustainable earth for their future.
Reveal to us a way of creating a world where forgiveness is revered as the salve of healing.
May multi-colored angels remind each person that there is no “us” or “them.”
May we have a world that does not use religion to separate us. (The root word of religion, ironically, means “to bind together.”)May we always be filled with gratitude for the abundance in our daily lives.
May peace prevail.Amen
